$9.19 per hour.


8 to 19.5 hours per week (eligible students taking summer quarter off may work additional hours until autumn).

Monday - Friday between 8 am and 8 pm.


Student assistants may work in one, two, or all three units of the Preservation Division:


  • Property stamp books
  • Insert security tapes
  • Create call number labels in Libraries' software apply to books.
  • Maintain statistics
  • Pack damaged library materials for shipping to the binding service provider and use UPS software to create detail shipping labels.
  • Load and unload boxes of books and transport to loading dock.
  • Unpack boxes of returns and match contents with paperwork.
  • Examine fragile books and magazines for completeness and damage before sending for preservation photocopying.
  • Pack fragile items for shipping.
  • Unpack returned items and match with paperwork.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Ability to push and steer fully loaded book trucks.
    • Ability to lift and carry 40-pound shipping boxes.
    • Demonstrated attention to detail.
