$9.19 - $9.79 per hour, depending on experience


18 hours per week. Schedule to be arranged between the hours of 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday.

Start Date: Fall quarter


  • Assist Curator with accessions, correspondence and donor outreach
  • Search complex printed and online bibliographic tools in support of adding materials to Special Collections
  • Arrange and describe archival accessions according to MPLP standards
  • Prepare inventories and finding aids of archival collections using a variety of software, including XMetal, Google Drive, Microsoft Excel, Archivists Toolkit
  • May research, write, compose, edit and/or revise electronic documents
  • Re-house materials as necessary
  • Retrieve and reshelve record storage boxes
  • Perform research using primary and secondary sources on the historical context of the collection

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Careful attention to detail
  • Must be able and willing to lift boxes weighing up to 40 pounds and climb stepladders
  • Ability to perform data entry with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to handle fragile items with care
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be able to tolerate working with dusty materials

Desired Qualifications:

  • Batchelor's degree
  • Prefer incoming graduate student
  • Library, archival or museum experience
