The Art Library serves the University of Washington School of Art and the university community-at-large and is open to the public.  The collection primarily supports teaching, research, and learning in the broad areas of art history, studio art, and design.



    MoMA's Matisse Exhibition Coming to Theatres in 2015

    On Jan. 13, “Matisse” – a documentary based on the highly popular exhibition “Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs,” which began at the Tate Modern and remains on view at the Museum of Modern Art through Feb. 8 – will open in movie theaters across the United States.

    Online Scholarly Catalogue Initiative

    The Getty Foundation's Online Scholarly Catalogue Initiative (OSCI) is helping museums make the transition from printed volumes to multimedia, web-based publications freely available to anyone with a computer, tablet, or smartphone.  The Foundation launched OSCI in 2009 in partnership with the J. Paul Getty Museum and eight other institutions.  To date, eight catalogues have been released.

    Now Showing At...

    Now Showing At... is a new blog from the Art Library.  Its purpose is to keep you informed about the lat­est national and inter­na­tional exhi­bi­tions and intro­duce you to UW Libraries resources related to artists in those exhibitions.  The latest entries are Charles Ray at the Art Institute of Chicago and Carrie Mae Weems at the Guggenheim.
