About RefWorks

RefWorks is an online web-based database, providing the ability to create and manage personal databases of bibliographic citations by importing the citations from text files or online databases. Citations may be automatically formatted for bibliography and footnotes, and may be searched within the personal database. Because this personal database is web-based, rather than computer-based, it can be accessed wherever you have access to the internet.

RefWorks is free for current University of Washington students, faculty, and staff because of a campus-wide site license. Use your UW NetID to log in to RefWorks, in order to import and format citations.
