William E. Jordan
Associate Dean of University Libraries, Resources Acquisition and Description/Information Technology Services
Jordan joined the Libraries in 1992 as a reference librarian. For the last 8 years, he has managed the technical team responsible for server and storage infrastructure for the University of Washington (UW) Libraries digital library services, and is currently responsible for coordinating the planning and implementation of all UW Libraries information technology including the integrated library system, public access computing, web and network services.
Since 1994, he has led multiple web and database development projects for UW Libraries, including the design, system architecture, and coding of the UW Libraries Digital Registry in 1998. From 1994-1998, he participated in the Z39.50 Implementers Group (ZIG) that advises the Library of Congress on the maintenance of the ANSI/NISO Z39.50 Information Retrieval standard.
Jordan holds an M.Libr. (1991) from the University of Washington, and an M.A. in Classics (1985) and a B.A. in History (1983), both from Wayne State University.
