Journals and Periodicals in the Engineering Library are shelved alphabetically by title on the 2nd floor of the library. Other serials, including books in series and some ceased journals are shelved on the 3rd and 4th floors by their call number. If you have questions, please contact the Engineering Library.

Finding Journals in the University of Washington Libraries

To find out if the UW Libraries owns a journal of interest to you, the UW Libraries Catalog is your primary source. The catalog includes journals in all formats: print, electronic, cd-rom, microfiche, and microfilm. An online source to help you interpret a journal title abbreviation is All That JAS. Obtaining articles not owned by the UW Libraries

  • UWorld Express
    Used to request entire volumes of journals, as well as individual journal articles not owned by the UW Libraries. It is usually faster and more efficient to request only the article or articles that you need . Many libraries do not loan out entire journal volumes.

    Note: Only current UW faculty, students, or staff (excluding Health Sciences or Law users) are eligible to receive free delivery of articles or conference papers not available in the UW Libraries and needed for university related research or coursework.

  • Purchase Request Form
    Used to recommend that the UW Libraries purchase the journal for its collection.
