Tuesday, December 2, 6:30 pm, Allen Auditorium Rooster’s Breakfast (original Slovene title Petelinji zatrjk, 126 minutes, 2007, dir. Marko Naberšnik) is based on a novel by the prolific and popular contemporary Slovene author Feri Lainšcek. It won the awards for best film, best director, best screenplay and best actor at the Tenth Annual Slovene Film Festival, and it was put forward as Slovenia’s candidate for best foreign film at the 2008 Academy Awards. The story takes place in a small town in rural Slovenia where the apparent tranquility of everyday life is belied by the passions that the individual inhabitants try to keep concealed from each other. |
