10-12 hours per week; schedule to be determined for hours between 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday.

Starting Date: Immediately


This position primarily assists with reception and general office duties for Libraries Administration, Employment and Payroll Services. As required will also assist with other areas of Libraries Administration, including Facilities and the Assistant to the Dean of Libraries.

  • Answer phones and welcome visitors to the Libraries Administration / Office of the Dean suite. Provide general information and referrals. Perform intake/hiring  process for new student employees.
  • General office work to include filing, data entry, data review, word processing, and creation of routine reports.
  • Assist with maintenance of online documentation.
  • Sort mail, run errands on campus, and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong computer application skills, able to learn new programs quickly.
  • Must be discreet when working with confidential material.
  • Accurate and efficient when performing repetitive tasks.
  • Able to prioritize and organize work independently to facilitate the accurate and timely completion of assignments.
  • Must have strong in person and telephone communication skills and be able to handle situations with diplomacy.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous office, receptionist, or public service experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Access or other database design programs.
  • Intermediate or advanced level skills with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Plone, or other web content management or blogging software.
  • Familiarity with UW Libraries structure and services.
