Duties:

Provides support for qualitative and quantitative assessment projects across the UW Libraries system (including space assessment and user surveys).

  • Under the direction of the Assessment Librarian, assists in the development and maintenance of systems for the collection, management, analysis, and communication of Libraries data using tools such as Tableau or Excel.
  • Assists in training/workshops on the use of data collection, reporting, and visualization
  • Under the direction of the Assessment Librarian completes or contributes to other projects or Libraries committees and teams as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Interest in assessment methods and/or data analysis and visualization
    • Excellent communication and collaborative skills
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and set priorities, develop personal goals, and work independently and collaboratively.
    • Commitment to contributing to a team that values diversity, equity and inclusion.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Enrollment in the MLIS program at the UW Information School.

    Assessment & Planning Staff collaborate with colleagues throughout the Libraries on projects to support the University's mission. Guided by our values, staff in the department provide leadership and support for qualitative and quantitative assessments designed to understand diverse user needs, guide decision-making, and improve support for teaching, learning, and research at the University of Washington.

    The Position

    The student in this position provides support for core assessment projects and data visualization work. Guided by the student's interests and departmental needs, this position also provides the opportunity to explore professional development opportunities and to lead and facilitate student-led projects.
