Negotiable schedule; work remotely

Duties:

  • Loads applications for use by library staff on a Linux (CentOS) server.
  • Optimizes connectivity to applications (preferred: access application using browsers on localhosts).
  • Recommends methods for distributed use of the applications.
  • Documents processes for non-expert staff.
  • Recommends backup routines.
  • Possibly migrate data from old versions to new versions of applications.
  • Manage limited storage space.
  • Possibly maintain scripts like cron jobs for example.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of Linux.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Experience in server administration.
    • Experience with ssh and http.
    • Familiarity with migrating data.
    • Experience with eXist-db.
    • Experience with Wikibase.
    • Experience with Apache Jena products.

    Other Details:

    The position primarily supports (1) semantic web workflows at the library; (2) workflows that use the XML tool suite (XSLT, XQuery, XML Schema, XForms, XProc, XML databases, XML editors).
