Denise Pan is Associate Dean of University Libraries for Collections and Content

Former Associate Director for Technical Services at University of Colorado Denver joins UW Libraries

Denise Pan is Associate Dean of University Libraries for Collections and Content

Lizabeth (Betsy) Wilson, Vice Provost for Digital Initiatives and Dean of University Libraries, is pleased to announce that Denise Pan has accepted the position of Associate Dean of University Libraries for Collections and Content effective June 20, 2016.

As associate dean for collections and content, Pan will oversee the areas of Acquisitions and Rapid Cataloging, Cataloging and Metadata Services, Collections and Content Strategy, Gifts, and Preservation Services. “Her career in both public and academic libraries and in public and technical services roles gives her a solid background from which to lead the Libraries’ Collections and Content,” said Dean Wilson.

Pan remarked, “I look forward to working with the University of Washington Libraries, which has a reputation of excellence, both nationally and internationally. I am intrigued by the opportunities to create and shape major programs, strategic directions, and content initiatives for a premier research institution in a stunning location.”

Pan served as the Associate Director for Technical Services at University of Colorado (CU) Denver from 2009-2016 where she oversaw functional areas of acquisitions, access and discovery, library management system, collections assessment, special collections and digital initiatives and coordinated the acquisition, access, and discovery of library materials. She was tenured as Associate Professor in 2015.

In 2015-16 she served as Vice Chair of the CU Denver Faculty Assembly. From 2009-2016 she was a member of Minority Affairs Committee, a Faculty Assembly committee, and chair from 2013-2015.

She received her M.L.I.S. (Masters of Library and Information Science) San Jose State University; an M.A. in History, University of Colorado, Boulder; and B.A., History, and B.S., Economics, University of California, Riverside.
