Join us to celebrate the academic and creative work of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) graduate students. Each Fellow has created a physical artifact that visually communicates their research. These artifacts take many forms: posters, artwork, visualizations, etc. Students come from across the UW Seattle campus in programs from law to biology.
The Research Commons is a space for interdisciplinary, innovative, and collaborative student work. Components of this ethos, along with the UW Libraries’ strategic goals around advancing research for the public good and creating equitable environments, have informed the development of this fellowship. In particular, we highlight graduate students doing interdisciplinary and collaborative work, open work (for example, open access publishing or projects with public scholarship components), and digital scholarship methodologies/tools (for example, data analysis, mapping platforms, or digital humanities work).
All artifacts will be displayed physically in the UW Libraries Research Commons starting in May 2023. You can also view online materials and learn more about the Fellows and their work on this website. Please join us for a reception celebrating the Fellowship at 2 PM on May 16th.
